Although this short compilation doesn't really do his work any justice. When searching for more of his title sequences I came across it's a Mad mad mad mad world. I thought this title sequence was brilliant with the illustrations interaction with the typography and how he continues to find creative ways to use the globe shape to create the next sequence.
The James Bond films have always been famous for their sequences but i wasn't a fan of many of them until recent years when the technology got better and their opening sequences got more complicated however a title sequence that always stood out to me and that was brought up in class was the Catch Me If You Can sequence. It may be 2D and in the style of Saul Bass but it's effortless transitions amaze me the scene is always transforming making room for either the typography or the next sequence and the provocative jazz music holds your attention throughout the title.
I started to think that a music festival isn't what I want to do and maybe a film festival would be better I had the idea of recreating famous scenes for my motion graphics in a 2D Saul Bass style.
Sure the 3D complicated CGI in film title sequences such as Star Trek's Into Darkness look fantastic but conceptually it's a very simple idea and I think based on the fact that I am still learning Adobe After Affects now it would be better to try to create a title sequence with a strong concept rather than something that has great technical ability but is extremely simple and doesn't take much thought process behind it and with no real story boards.
